AIM
It is aimed to teach the material properties and structural behavior of masonry structures. It is also aimed to present the design criteria of these structures and their provisions in the design codes. Another purpose of this course is to show modern methods and studies in the literature about damage assessments and measures for the protection of historical buildings.
CONTENT
This course contains; Historical background and structural behavior of masonry structures,Masonry material types,Structural elements of masonry structures,Masonry columns (buttress, piers, pillars),Masonry walls,Girders, window and door openings,Foundation and footings,Arches,Slabs and ceilings,Damage types in masonry structures,Intervention methods for strengthening and rehabilitation,Intervention examples in historical masonry structures,Analysis and design of a masonry building I,Analysis and design of a masonry building II.
